On September 17th, Chris registered for a virtual event via the The National Willa Cather Center with Richard Norton Smith discussing My Mortal Enemy. The event is free, but registration is required.

Emily plans to watch the 1973 film Don’t Look Now based on the short story by Daphne du Maurier.

The 2026 Maine Lit Fest runs from September 30 through October 9th. Emily has purchased tickets to see Min Jin Lee in conversation with Richard Russo on October 3rd, this is a ticketed event.

The 2026 Cape Cod Book Festival runs from October 24-25 is the Cape Cod Literary Festival. Tickets are available here.

Chris had a Couch Biblio Adventure watching Not Dead Yet based on the novel Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up by Alexandra Potter.

Emily finished watching Margo’s Got Money Troubles, based on the novel by Rufi Thorpe.

Chris had a browse through The Curious Cat Bookshop in Winstead where she purchased Japanese Gothic by Kylie Lee Baker. She also took a swing through the new Barnes & Noble located at the West Farms Mall in West Hartford, CT.

Emily stopped into the Southington Library where she picked up a copy of The Butter Book by Anna Stockwell.

Emily spent time in Rhode Island where she browsed through Ink Fish Books and made a stop at The George Hail Free Library in Warren. She also stopped in Tiverton at The Yellow House an independent bookstore and café. On the drive home she stopped at the Daniel Albert Pierce Library in East Greenwich.

Chris celebrated Independent Bookstore Day with visits to The Book Barn in Niantic where she purchased The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl and The Unofficial Companion to Patricia Cornwell by George Beahm; next she stopped at Bank Square Books in Mystic where she came home with copies of The Known World by Edward P. Jones, Elizabeth Cady Stanton: A Revolutionary Life by Ellen Carol DuBois, and Angelica: For Love and Country in a Time of Revolution by Molly Beer.

Emily had a workday at the Carbondale Public Library where she was surprised to learn that they offer free printing. On the way home she flew through the Denver airport where she found a very cool, very big take-one-leave-one library in the A gates of the Denver airport that is a façade for Williams & Graham, a speakeasy-style cocktail bar and restaurant.

Chris browsed the new Barnes & Noble in Cheshire, CT where she purchased Monsters: The 1985 Chicago Bears and the Wild Heart of Football by Rich Cohen.

Sadly, Emily’s two planned Biblio Adventures, one with Casey Elsass, author of What Can I Bring?, and the other with Catherine Newman, author of Sandwich and Wreck, did not happen. One was canceled and the other was interrupted by work. But she did have three Couch Biblio Adventures: Hamnet based on the novel by Maggie O’Farrell; The Summer Book based on the novel by Tove Jansson; and the final installment of the Aspen Winter Words with Tara Roberts talking about her book Written in the Waters: A Memory of History, Home, and Belonging.

Chris met with Our Mystery Man, John Valeri, where they continued their conversation about the buddy read of the 29-book series by Patricia Cornwell and John recapped his experience watching the new Scarpetta series streaming on Prime.
